FLEAS....Tell me if you have seen fleas.
I prefer to be prepared ahead of time.  I will mix up special shampoo and  get everything ready for a flea dog.  Some dogs can be infested and not even scratch at themselves and other dog itch till they bleed with only 2 fleas on them.  Eliminating fleas from a dog is an extra fee of $7-$20 depending on the severity of the infestation.

MATTING......is an extra charge.  It has to come out, one way or another.  We do not send dogs home with mats left ON.  They are either combed out or shaved out....whichever is the best for your dog.  Some dogs have a zero-tolerance for a little pain that comes from combing them.  Those dogs usually end up getting the mats shaved off.  Other dogs close their eyes and let you tug and pull a mat apart and they don't feel a thing.  Those dogs can be left longer coated since they don't object to the grooming process.  We have about a dozen different tools and techniques we employ to de-mat the legs and bellies and tails of matted dogs.  Like I said, some dogs let you, others don't and we do what we can.....We always try our best to make the dog look good but we never put a dog thru torture just because you want him long and fluffy so "Aunt Martha" can see him all cute and cuddly.  Matted fur pulls on the skin and is painful for the dog.  Our goal is comfort, safety and humanity before vanity.  Fees vary.
$5 for light mats and up to $45 per hour for extensive comb outs (only on dogs who are OK with it being done on them)

This dog was totally combed out and dematted BECAUSE it allowed us to do it.

Notice the stained paws....It needs to be on better dog food and that would go away

NOW if you bring in a dog like the one below, you BETTER not tell us you want us to leave it fluffy because we are not magicians.  There is no way that this dog can get anything other than a super short military buzz cut.  It will look like a shaved pink pig.  But if YOU allow your dog to get this neglected, then you can expect to get a naked pink dog when you come back.  This is shameful to let a sweet little bichon get this matted.

De-Shedding a Collie/Lab mix outside  $65

EXCESSIVE FILTH is an additional charge.  I don't have to charge it often but I do if your dog has rolled in a dead deer, if there is matted, caked and hardened feces under the tail that is the size of a golfball or larger.  Dogs who live outdoors with straw in their doghouses often come in for a yearly bath and they are absolutely filthy....THEY will cost $10-$50 extra

AGGRESSION is an additional charge.
I don't have to charge it often, but if I cannot control your dog by myself and have to have help just to manage it, I will charge extra.  We are very calm here and most dogs sense the calmness and relax enough to accomplish the tasks needed.  But a few just get something in their heads and can't let it go.  You can't reason with them and they are simply out of control.  Muzzles don't help.  Talking or petting is doing nothing.  They are frothing and flailing wildly and they are unstoppable.....these have an extra charge and I call the owners to come and get them immediately.  If you HAVE a dog who has acted like that at another groomer, TELL ME.  If you tell me, I won't care.  I will attempt your dog.  But if you don't tell me and I get bit because you were afraid to warn me, LOOK OUT!  Its like this.  What if you bought a car and you got into an accident because the brakes didn't work.  You take it back to the salesman and tell him about your near death accident and he says..."Well if I told you the brakes didn't work, you worldn't have bought the car from me."
I don't care if your dog tries to nip.  I'm used to that.  But a dog who is uncooperative and has his teeth bared from the get-go and I have to take a lot of time to accomplish even the simplest task, well my time is worth the extra fee of doing a job that most people can't do.

TOE NAIL TRIMS  are included with the cost of the bath/groom.  We do NAILS ONLY without any appointment.  You simply show up and we do you in about 1-3 minutes time.  Cost is normally $8 but can be $11 if we have to muzzle your dog and take extra time.  PLEASE don't wait till your dog's nails look like the ones below.  Get your tail in here sooner.

Occasionally we encounter nails that have grown into the paw pad.  When we cut the nail , the tip STAYS stuck in the pad.  We gently pull it out.  Usually its quite pointy like a thorn.  Sometimes it bleeds alot and other times not much at all because a callous has formed around the puncture hole.  Its a terrible thing that is prevented by a measly $8 nail trim a few times per year.  We do charge extra for those type of extractions.
