WE DO: - Know & understand purebreeds and mix-breeds.... what is normal behavior for them. For instance, we KNOW Jack Russells can jump a gate and we KNOW Bichons hate water on their heads. Knowing your dogs makes us wiser than they are. We work WITH them, not AGAINST them!
- Understand handicapped, scared and elderly pets. We KNOW it hurts to stand on 3 legs when the nails on your 4th leg are being clipped. We try to assist those special needs animals to be more comfortable.
- We know what we are capable of when it comes to hair styles. We work WITH your dogs hair type, health & life-style. We are realistic and tell you what is possible and what is not with your dog. If we can leave the fur long we will, but if we KNOW its in the dog's best interest to go very short, we will advice you accordingly. WE KNOW OUR FUR!
WE ALSO DO: - use hypo-allergenic products for every dog. If you smell anything, its a mist of cologne on the outer fur. I have never had a single dog experience itchy dry skin AFTER its grooming that was caused by the shampoo I use.
- squeeze anal glands, expecially if we see fur that has been licked around the butt area. That fur tells us that something is bothering the dog.
- Inspect for fleas, scabs, lumps and bumps.
- We recommend dietary changes when we feel it's needed. The skin and coat, eyes, ears and foot pads tell us what's going on inside your dogs body.......if its body is saying "ENOUGH! I've had enough of a certain thing."
- Have the facilities to accept the super-large giant breeds of dogs.
- Give beaded necklaces, bows, bandanas and neckties to full groom dogs, not toe-nail trims only.
- We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, DICSCOVER & AMEX

WE DO NOT: - Use muzzles....and when we do, its for the shortest time possible so we can accomplish our task, then it is removed. We feel that a muzzle is no different than making your dog wear a sweater or hat. At first they look sheepish and puzzled, then they get used to it because its not hurting them.
- YELL, HIT or JERK any dog even if its trying its best to bite. It accomplishes NOTHING but more anxiety. Our goal is to be calm and assertive but not aggressive. The dogs take their cues from us. If we are calm, they calm down. If the dog is highly agressive, or horribly behaved, we may use a loud, firm voice to focus it's attention back on us, and let them know that we are in charge and NOT hurting them.
- Lose our tempers.
- Use cheap shampoos and styling products. Our products will never clog the dogs pores over the years, causing more skin problems in our long-time clients as some cheap products tend to do. We groom for the long-haul.
- Automatically shave down every dog. We hate that. We want your dog to look as pretty as possible. If we DO have to shave your dog, its a NICE, EVEN body with blended head and tail.
WE ALSO DO NOT: - Purposely "quick" dogs nails. That is the practice of making every nail so short that it bleeds and pushes the quick (or vein) back toward the foot
- "Yank" ear hair like twirling spagetti on a fork. We use the proper technique, tools and products and we DO NOT feel that every dog needs plucked every time. Over plucking can cause more problems than not plucking at all. Let us decide by sight, smell and feel if your dogs ears truly need plucked with each groom.
- Reschedule appointments if you do not call or show up for an appointment. If you stand me up & make me stand around when I could have called other people who want appointments, you do not get another chance. I am sorry to have to resort to this, but I am not a doormat and my services are in demand for those who care about time.
- WE DO NOT GROOM ANY CATS. Cats are groomed at Cattitude Salon at the same time the dog companion is being done at Barking Beauties.
